Nubya Garcia has just released her highly anticipated sophomore album Odyssey via Concord Jazz. As the album title suggests, Odyssey is an ambitious, epic journey and features the singles ‘The Seer’, which reflects Garcia’s efforts to find clarity and catch a glimpse of the future, the music – with its ominous piano chords, stampeding drum break and blazing saxophone, charging forcefully to the unknown. Odyssey also includes the single ‘Clarity’, a song about wanting to find transparency during encounters with other people and Garcia communicates this thought uplifting, delicate, unfurling strings.
